Commercial Electric Delivery Service

This rate is available upon application for any commercial customer using the Company’s standard service for lighting or commercial power or both.

Commercial Electric Space Heating Service

This rate is available upon application for any commercial customer served by the Company’s Commercial Electric Service Schedule who has permanently installed and is using a heat pump or resistance heating as the primary source of space heating the customer’s premise where it is used and the space so heated is adequately separated from spaced heated with a source other than electric heating.

Large Light and Power Electric Delivery Service

This rate is available for any customer within the territory served by the Utility Company guaranteeing a demand of not less than 10 kilowatts each month for billing purposes.

This rate is available to any customer within the territory served by the Utility Company guaranteeing a demand of not less than 2,000 kilowatts each month for billing purposes.

Outdoor Area Lighting Service

This service is available to any customer located in the Utility Company’s service territory for lighting outdoor areas, where the period of lighting is limited from dusk to dawn. Customers must sign a contract for service and the customer must be located adjacent to Company lines from which such service can be rendered.

Renewable Energy Net Metering

In compliance with 83 Ill. Admin.Code Part 465, Rider NM - Net Metering Service is available to Customers purchasing power and energy from the Company, and that are determined to be an Eligible Customer as defined in 220 ILCS 5/16-107.5 of the Public Utilities Act. An Eligible Customer will have installed an Eligible Renewable Electrical Generating Facility operating in parallel with the Company's electric system.

Prior to commencement of service, Customer must complete an Application for Service in accordance with 83 Ill. Admin. Code Part 465, and comply with the electrical interconnection requirements contained in 83 Ill. Admin. Code Part 466.

Delivery Service Rates

Delivery Service Rates and the Terms and Conditions of Service are tariffs filed with the Illinois Commerce Commission for use when a customer chooses to purchase electricity, when available, from an Alternative Electric Supplier.

New Applicant

If you have never been a non-residential electric customer with Mt. Carmel Public Utility Co.  we will ask you to come to the office at 316 N. Market Street to complete an application for service. Non-residential customers will be asked to provide information about the business entity, including officers, owners, and authorized signers. We may ask you to provide us with documentation for your business to check for qualification as an Illinois small business.  A tax identification number may be required to establish your account.

Privacy
The privacy of your account information is important to us and we will carefully protect it. Information will only be given to persons who have signed the application for service, or someone designated by you in writing as authorized to transact business or receive information.

Former or Existing Non-Residential Electric Customer

If you are an existing non-residential electric service customer with a good payment history, you may not need to visit our office to establish service. You may call (618) 262-5151 or Toll Free 1-877-262-7036 to verify that we have the information we need to reinstate you or to add an additional electric service.

If any of the following conditions occur, we may ask you to come in to the office to establish or add electric service:

  • If your business information has changed.
  • When you ceased being an electric customer your account balance was not paid timely and in full.
  • It has been two years since you were last an electric customer.


Deposits
The Company may require an applicant for service to make a deposit with the Company.

The requirement of a deposit and the amount needed to connect service are determined in compliance with IL Admin Code Part 280 and are generally equal to two times the average monthly electric bill at the location to be connected.

Deposits earn interest while they are held by MCPU. The interest rate is established annually by the Illinois Commerce Commission. Interest will be credited to your account on the deposit anniversary date.

Deposits are refunded in full when the account has a satisfactory payment history during any 12-month period or when service is disconnected.

FAC Historical Information

In addition to the standard rates, your bill will include a Fuel Adjustment Charge (FAC) each month. The incremental cost per kilowatt-hour is calculated each month based on the cost of energy and transmission purchased on behalf of the customers served by Mt. Carmel Public Utility Co.

The FAC for the current month is $0.069480.
